Change a child’s story
Who Can Volunteer
CASA volunteers come from all walks of life but share a commitment to improving children’s lives. Many hold full-time employment. No special professional or educational experience is required; however, potential volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass extensive background checks. A CASA volunteer’s work requires approximately five hours each week, and is challenging but gratifying.
Volunteer Training and Supervision
Volunteers attend more 40 hours of training prior to being sworn as court appointed special advocates. Individuals interested in becoming an advocate must apply and be accepted into the training program. Potential volunteers are selected on the basis of their time availability and flexibility objectivity, maturity, and commitment to and concern for children. Once sworn, each volunteer works with a CASA supervisor who provides guidance throughout the case process.
Upcoming Training Opportunities
Chesterfield CASA’s interview and training process is conducted mostly virtually, as are Information Sessions. We are currently accepting applications for our spring class. Information Sessions are not a requirement to volunteer, but are a great way to learn more and ask questions. If you are unable to join us for an information session, please fill out our inquiry form below and we will reach out to you with more information.
